Last week, we visited Gaaltije's new exhibition Gaskelaante – landet däremellan. It is an experimental exhibition about climate change and cultural heritage. With VR glasses, we entered the virtual exhibition, explored different objects, and walked through a snowy mountain landscape. It truly felt like being there – a unique experience!
We also watched a film about Sami history and how reindeer herding has developed over thousands of years, as well as stories about how climate change is affecting the reindeer’s environment today.
The study visit provided us with many new and enlightening insights that will be valuable in our work on the Interreg project Geoturism i Mitten, where we focus on highlighting the Sami perspective in the geopark.
It is a highly educational and unique exhibition we warmly recommend everyone to visit!
